Fall Course Updates

A message from the Office of the Provost - June 16, 2020

Dear Students,

We hope you and your loved ones are well. We’re writing to continue to keep you updated as the plans for fall instruction at Cal Poly Humboldt become more refined. The CSU Chancellor has approved the Humboldt plan to offer a limited number of courses face to face and on campus for Fall 2020. We realize that not all students will be able to safely join us on campus. Your faculty are working diligently to assure that there are alternatives for any students who are unable to participate in any on-campus face-to-face courses.

We will be following all county and state public health and CDC protocols and recommendations as we move toward a limited number of face-to-face classes. In order to create a two-week buffer for in-person interaction on campus, all Humboldt classes will begin in fall in a virtual format. For those courses that will then meet face to face, the in-person part will begin on Tuesday, September 8. The in-person parts of these courses will run through Friday, November 6. After this date, all courses will be taught through the end of the semester in a virtual format.

For the courses offered online:

Synchronous courses have days and times; students are expected to be available online at the times indicated.
Asynchronous courses do not have set days or times; students can complete their coursework during more flexible time periods.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please continue to reach out to your advisor, department chair, or dean with any questions about fall.

With our continuing best wishes,

Lisa Bond-Maupin
Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs

Mary Oling-Sisay
Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate & Undergraduate Studies

A message from the Office of the Provost - June 2, 2020

Dear Students,

We hope you and your loved ones are well. We’re writing to provide an update on your class schedule for Fall 2020.

As you may have read in messages from the CSU Chancellor and Humboldt, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Humboldt courses will be primarily delivered virtually this fall. Your class schedule will be updated in your Student Center to reflect these changes. You will notice that some of your courses will be offered online (ONL) synchronously and asynchronously, while some other courses may still appear to meet in physical classrooms. For the courses offered online:

Synchronous courses have days and times; students are expected to be available online at the times indicated.

Asynchronous courses do not have set days or times; students can complete their coursework during more flexible time periods.

Humboldt has also submitted to the Chancellor a request for face-to-face instruction in a limited number of courses. We hope to have the Chancellor’s decision soon and will update you as soon as we are notified of any face-to-face classes we have been approved to teach.

Class schedules will continue to be updated as we receive more information. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

With our continuing best wishes,

Lisa Bond-Maupin, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs

Mary Oling-Sisay, Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate & Undergraduate Studies
