Adding a minor or second major to my plan

Adding a minor or second major to my plan

Minors

After you declare a minor the requirements will automatically pull into your DARS Plan. If you want to explore options before declaring a minor, see "creating a what-if plan".

Second Majors (Double-Major)

DARS Degree Planner only includes one major (plus any declared minors) at a time. To create a comprehensive preferred plan that includes the planned courses for a second major, you will need to create  a separate plan for the second major, and then manually add those courses to your preferred plan.

Creating a “what-if” plan

Creating a “what-if” plan

DARS Degree Planner allows you to create multiple plans to explore different major options - but keep in mind that each plan is tied to only one major or minor at a time. To create a new plan to explore another pathway, you can follow the steps in the Manage & Maintain Your Plan video. When exploring other paths, it’s important to keep your preferred plan in the Plans tab. Your preferred plan will be used by the university to predict course demand.

Course details and course rotation (planned course offerings)

Click on a course in DARS audit (left side) or your plan (right side).

A Course Catalog Details pop-up will display the course description, units, pre-requisites and the terms the course is typically offered.

Courses that are not typically offered or only offered on demand (independent or directed study, for example) may show as never offered when viewing course availability. Contact your major advisor for alternative course options.

If a course has "SUSPENDED" or "INACTIVE" in the title it is no longer offered at Cal Poly Humboldt. Remove the courses from your plan and make adjustments as needed. Please check the planner degree audit to find current course options that should be taken instead. When in doubt, discuss changes with your advisor and consult the Humboldt catalog.
